Our story starts in Sydney, Tuesday, October 13th, 2015
It was a busy night in Kings Cross—a work event led us to World Bar, where we shared our first kiss.
Our jobs? We were both working at Peterpans Adventure Travel, the place that brought us together and gave us some of the friendships we still hold closest today.
From that first night on, travel became our thing. It’s been the backdrop to some of our best memories — from the chaos of Cuba to the calm of Cambodia. From the beaches of Belize, Indonesia, and Thailand, to the street food scenes of Japan, Guatemala, Mexico, Vietnam, and so many more.
24 countries.
10 years.
Every trip, an adventure.
Every passport stamp, a shared story.
And it all led to this…
Taormina, Sicily

Two of our best friends (Shoutout to Charlie and Chelsie!) decided to get married back in the UK.
Naturally, we thought, if we’re flying halfway across the world, why not make a proper adventure out of it?
So before the big wedding celebrations, we squeezed in a whirlwind trip through Sicily, the Amalfi Coast, and Naples, finishing with a stop to see Sara’s family in Forlì.
While Sara was busy planning flights, hotels and making sure we hit all the best food spots (priorities), Aaron was quietly working on slightly more nerve-wracking plans.
First, he brought Charlie and Chelsie into the fold. It was a full-circle moment: we’d been with Charlie and Chelsie when Charlie proposed in Bali back in June 2022, so having them with us again for this chapter made it even more special.
Next, it was time to ask the all-important question... to Sara’s parents. Cue a frantic Google Translate session, some probably questionable Italian, and a very heartfelt message that somehow got the green light.
With permission granted, the ring hidden carefully in hand luggage, and nerves building by the day, we set off for Sicily.Aaron had booked a private clifftop dining experience at the stunning Hotel Grand San Pietro in Taormina — perched high above the sparkling waters of Isola Bella. (Fate even stepped in — the hotel was just around the corner from where we happened to be staying.)
The cover story? Charlie and Chelsie said they'd booked a "special dinner" for our last night together in Sicily. We were told to meet at 6pm, dressed up and ready for a nice evening out.
Sara suspected absolutely nothing….. at first.
We strolled into the hotel, wandered through beautiful gardens, and just as we approached a winding staircase leading to a private table for two, the final hurdle appeared……..
Luigi, the hotel manager, full of enthusiasm and zero chill, he blurts out…….
“Ahh! You are Aaron! Yes, we’ve been writing!"
For Sara, the penny had dropped, but with 99 steps still to circle down, hearts pounding, there was no turning back.
When we reached the terrace - just us, a candlelit table, and the view of Isola Bella — Luigi quietly retreated, giving Aaron his moment.
Aaron finally got down on one knee and popped the question….
She said Yes!
